Can you believe that Attorney Paul Kennerson has been working hard for years to remove the beloved La Jolla seals from “Children’s Pool” at Casa Beach? Everybody else seems to loves them as they are a huge draw for tourists and locals alike. Now that seals are in trouble all up and down the coast, it seems a particularly poor idea to kick them out of this little cove. On top of that, the plan for removal of the seals is to play a recording of dogs barking 24/7, to the tune of $700,000 a year. What???
Seems like its that time for our monthly band podcast! Ryan and Anji bring you a final update (*crossing fingers*) on the noisy neighbor’s construction project and getting back into the studio to record again. Lots of talk about Lovespirals’ new song, “One Of Those Days,” plus a preview of it at the end of the show. Ryan describes his new Howie pedal and how it mimicks a Dumble amp sound which leads into to a conversation about various studio upgrades the band have made this year. They also discuss the their recent quest for an outside recording space, share the religious experience they had at the final Clapton & Winwood show at the Hollywood Bowl, mention their excitement at going to see Doyle Bramhall II with the Arc Angels this week, and talk about participating in the Meals For Seals sponorship program at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center.

Lovespirals are tickled pink to announce that they have totally redesigned their official website from top to bottom. Lovespirals.com is turning 10 this year and the band are celebrating with a contemporary new WordPress theme packed full of cool widgets and modern functionality. Take a listen to the latest podcast, Chillin’ with Lovespirals #65, to hear all about the site’s history and redesign process. Oh, and be sure to check out a sneak peek at some of the beautiful new portraits Susan Jennings shot of Ryan and Anji in the photo album of the new Lovespirals history page!

Pleased to note that Lovespirals are still doing quite well on the Podsafe Music Network Downtempo chart. At present, the band own the top 3 spots, plus the number 8 spot. Long time fan favorite, “Love Survives,” from the 2005 album, Free & Easy, is the top podcaster pick, followed by the ever-popular Bitstream Dream remix of “Walk Away” (we really do need to release that Walk Away EP one day…), plus both original mixes of Long Way From Home singles, “Motherless Child” and “This Truth” from 2007. Quite surprised its the not the remixes of those singles, honestly! Band vocalist, Anji Bee, currently holds the #7 position in Downtempo and #2 on the Trip Hop chart, both for collaborations with the now-defunct Canadian-based project, Bitstream Dream.
On a side note, gotta give some love to Macedonia of Radio BSOTS for his kind comment:
Somewhere in the podosphere, someone is keeping an all-time Podsafe Music chart topper list. I would like to think that Lovespirals is somewhere within the Top 30, if not the Top Ten. Personal faves include “Love Survives” and “Walk Away (Bitstream Dream Remix)”.
Ryan and Anji sit down for a post-Earth Day chat about green living with some tips from the Hip Tranquil Chick, wax poetic about their recent trip to San Francisco to take photos with Susan Jennings and meet up with Karmacoda, respond to recent listener feedback, give a super quick album and website redesign update. Plus they share a recording of Bhutanese monks chanting at the Asian Art Museum as part of the amazing exhibit, The Dragon’s Gift: The Sacred Arts of Bhutan.

Ryan and Anji sit down to get you caught up on all the latest including how redesigning the band website and not being able to work on music is making Ryan very cranky, the duo’s trip to Indian Wells for the BNP Paribas Open (see Anji’s blog with photos), progress on the new album, ProTools vs Logic, “This Truth” iTunes delay, following John Mayer’s advice, new Anji collaborations and compilation placements (Danai Lounge, Far East Film Festival), Anji’s crush on Sasha Vujacic annoying Ryan, and a sneak peek at Lovespirals new unreleased track, “Love.” Plus the band ask for feedback from the listeners on the cover art and length of their upcoming album, as well as whether or not they use either Lovespirals or Anji Bee ringtones. Please respond in the blog comments area!

Enjoy our chart topping Damien.S VS Lovespirals single on cool music site, TheSixtyOne. If you enjoy it, come “bump” us up and/or leave a comment. If you do so, we will be your best friends…
Lovespirals finally take a moment for the first band podcast of the year! Anji starts it off with a quick overview of the past month, including seeing the band’s good pal, CC Chapman, get interviewed by CNN during the Presidential Inauguration — go CC! Then the band get into the nitty gritty of recent events like the latest neighbor noise torments and the big So Cal rainstorm, plus hating on Grammys, announcing the official release date and chart news of the Damien.S VS Lovespirals remix EP of “This Truth” on Loverush Digital (DMC is currently listing “This Truth” at #2 on the World Trance Chart!!!), rediscovering Atmospheric Drum & Bass (see: Blu Mar Ten and Below Zero), writing and recording songs for the new album, more cable & TV placements, pimping the new Lovespirals Twitter account, discussing how using a cute picture of a girl will get you more friends on Twitter, getting excited over the new Dalai Lama Twitter account (which was suspended at time of posting…), seeing BB King in concert, buying tickets for Robert Cray and The Dead, pimping the Lovespirals Facebook Page, and being confused if people communicate with us via site comment, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace or email (Bente DID comment at the blog, btw!). The show closes out with a clip of “This Truth (Adam Fielding Chilled Out Mix)” which you can hear in full on The Chillcast #150 over at www.anjibee.com.

Hot new UK dance music label, Loverush Digital, is about to drop a “Damien.S VS Lovespirals” branded set of remixes of our single, “This Truth,” on February 9th. UK radio and club DJs, however, have already been spinning advanced copies the past few weeks. To our delight, the EP has been blazing up various club charts!
We’re going up against some pretty steep competition from the likes of Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson, and being a spot ahead of “Single Ladies” on the UK Club is just insane and surreal…
[update: The single went on to reach #2 on the DMC World Trance Chart, #4 on the DMC World House Chart and #8 on the UK Music Week Club Charts!]
John McCormick (Deep 6, Fury Murrys, The Hive, Yates) 10/10 This has created one of the biggest buzzes on the floors I’ve seen in ages. Its an enormous winner and packs the floors everytime without fail. Superb mix package. Top stuff all round!
DJ Crispian Aldis (Elemental, Havanah, Paradise) 10/10 This is good and is causing quite a stir in my sets. Loads of fab mixes to choose from. Top track, top label. I can see big things for Loverush in 2009.
Beaker (Berties, Bunters, Divas, Red Square) 9/10 I love the feel to this track, she has such a haunting voice. You can’t help but hear it. It’s such a smooth chill out dance track that works really well.
John J (Club DNA, Liquid Lounge, Wigan Pier) 9/10 LOVIN THIS! Quality vocal trancer with a wicked package of mixers. Fave is Juno Synclair vs Craig Bailey Remix.
