“Breath Of Life” Official Music Video

The B-side to Lovespirals’ new single, “Brother Against Brother,” is a dreamy, mystical, ambient guitar and vocal piece that was originally written for the opening sequence of a documentary film of the same name about the Mauli Ola Foundation by Michael Squier. The version of the song offered here has been slightly updated with additional vocals, guitar, and new production. The amazing time lapse video sequences were all shot by Michael Squier, some of which appeared in his film of the same name.

Buy the ‘Brother Against Brother’ 2-song single or the full album, ‘Life Goes On,’ featuring this song on CD or as a digital download on the Lovespirals Bandcamp page.

New Video for Lovespirals' "Aspenglow"

Lovespirals “Aspenglow” from Excelsis Vol. 3

Brand new video for Lovespirals’ cover of the wintry John Denver song, “Aspen Glow,”  recorded for the 2001 Projekt holiday comp, ‘Excelsis Vol. 3: A Prelude.’ It was also included on the 2002 Hot Topic Holiday comp, ‘A Dark Noel: The Very Best of Excelsis.’

MusicTap writes: “Lovespirals gives us “Aspen Glow”, a song borrowed from John Denver and sweetly sung in as good a version as you’ll ever hear by the beautiful Anji Bee, who’s voice is as charming as a winter scene that you become lost in. Ryan and Anji’s respect for the season is deeply felt. This track has become one of my favorite seasonal songs.”

“Believe” Music Video

Back in 2008 and 2009 when Lovespirals were creating their 4th album, Future Past, the band captured some behind-the-scenes moments during the songwriting, recording, and production process — as well as time spent at various beaches in their native Southern California to recharge their creative batteries. “Believe” was filmed by Anji and Ryan, and edited together by Anji.

Lovespirals Live Practice Video

In preparation for the big Lovespirals and Karmacoda Harlot Happy Hour show coming up this Friday in San Francisco, Ryan and Anji have spent a lot of time selecting and arranging a half hour set of songs to perform. Over the weekend the duo tried playing the set using both an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar. The band have done shows either way, and they each have their merits. Anji captured some footage from a few of these practice sessions and put it up on the Lovespirals Facebook Group and Official Lovespirals You Tube Account. Figured we should post it here, as well! Lovespirals haven’t performed live since 2006 – and they haven’t played the San Francisco area since 2002 – so if you’re in the area, you really should come check it out!

Lovespirals Release Home Video

After a decade of making music together, Ryan and Anji of Lovespirals have finally released their first-ever music video. Created by the band themselves using HD footage shot on the drive home from mastering their fourth album, Future Past, combined with footage filmed at the beautiful Newport Back Bay estuary, this intimate video truly captures the essence of the band and the song itself. “Home” debuted on Anji’s own Chillcast Video Edition show Jan. 28th, and is slowly but surely making its way across the Internet. You can now view “Home” on the official Lovespirals pages on Facebook, MySpace, ReverbNation, Vimeo, and – of course – YouTube. Additionally, Angelic Voices blog is featuring “Home” on their homepage this week. PLEASE repost this video, rate it, leave comments, tell a friend etc to help spread the love for Lovespirals!

Anji @ CD Pre-Launch Listening Party

You may have heard about Lovespirals’ exclusive little pre-launch CD listening party from band Tweets or the latest episode of Chillin’ with Lovespirals (#70), but if not it was a small get together with a few San Francisco friends to both celebrate the completion of Future Past and to get some feedback on album. The party took place at the same groovy Victorian flat where the album photos were taken, which you can hear more about in Chillin’ with Lovespirals #64. Anyway, Ryan captured some video of Anji showing off the party spread moments before their guests arrive.

This video was originally posted to the Lovespirals Facebook page. Come add yourself as a fan!

Have You Heard? (Xtranormal Vid)

Have you seen the Xtranormal site yet? It allows you to select from various characters and backgrounds — including your choice of gender and language — then animate them using various actions and expressions. Type in what you want them to say and how you want them to say it — even choose which camera angle — and the site turns your script into an animated video. It is way too fun! I had heard of it somewhere, but once I saw it in action – via a video by Ryan Coseboom of Stripmall Architecture, I knew I had to try it out. I hope you get a good chuckle out of it and hey, feel free to repost! Without further ado, may we present the comic ad for our upcoming new CD, Future Past, entitled, “Have You Heard?”

“Is Lovespirals that old Goth band?” “No. They are so not Goth.”

Lovespirals In-Studio #6: CD Mastering

Ambient music legend/mastering engineer Robert Rich explains the basics of mastering Lovespirals’ new album, Future Past, at his Soundscape Studio in Mountain View California. Ryan and Anji listen on as Robert demonstrates how he uses Apple’s Logic Studio, Izotope mastering software, and audio dithering to give each track its best possible sound. Robert also mastered Lovespirals’ 2002 release Windblown Kiss and 2007’s Long Way From Home. But the band was pleased to hear Robert say that the mixes “nailed it” this time, leaving him just enough room to creatively add a magic sparkle to the album. The result is the best sounding Lovespirals album by far; achieving a true big studio sound from their much more modestly equipped home studio.
