In June 2005, Anji and Ryan began a spoken word podcast to help raise awareness of their music, specifically their 2nd album, Free & Easy. Having their own home studio, Anji’s college and Internet radio experience, and Ryan’s computer know-how made it a fairly simple and fun challenge for the band. For the first year, Chillin’ with Lovespirals was hosted on their band’s webserver, but in 2006 the show was signed to Adam Curry’s PodShow Network (now known as Mevio) under the updated name, Chillin’ with Lovespirals: Insights of an Indie Band.
As the title implies, not only do Lovespirals chat about their latest band happenings but also discuss recent trends in music, technology, and the Internet — providing insight into today’s world of independent music. Additionally Ryan and Anji share personal stories, such as their continuing efforts at going green, living a vegan lifestyle, and becoming more enlightened individuals. Perhaps most excitingly, the band often share clips of songs in progress, cover songs, live recordings, or remixes at the end of the show. Sometimes they’ll even share audio snippets from their travels.
The podcast is not released on any regular schedule, but tends to come out twice monthly. It is free to subscribe and download the show via iTunes or RSS. You can also listen to Chillin’ with Lovespirals directly via our site on a handy podcast player. The show also appears on Anji Bee’s personal site, as well as Lovespirals’ MySpace page. If you add Lovespirals on Twitter, you can catch our release announcements on there.
